Parklands Dental is one of the few general dental surgeries set up for both the surgical steps involved in the placement of dental implants, as well as the final restoration (crown).
Teeth or a tooth may be lost for several reasons: trauma, gum disease, or failed root canal treatment. Implants are the closest thing to replacing your natural tooth, as the implant offers strength, functionality and longevity equal to healthy natural teeth.
An implant is a titanium post shaped like the root of a tooth. It is placed in the jawbone in a short procedure, followed by a healing period of 4-8 weeks during which bone grows and merges with the implant to create a strong bond. A porcelain crown can then be matched to the shape and colour of your natural teeth and be secured onto the implant, giving you a new artificial tooth or teeth.
Some complex cases may require specialist referral (e.g. if there is not enough bone to support an implant and grafting is required). After assessment and discussion on all options for treatment, we can organise this for you.
